It seems that the openSUSE and Ubuntu users were put in a state of uproar due to certain statements that were issued over the Web. It was stated that Novell was sold to Microsoft alarming many Linux users, when in fact in a later update states that a Microsoft holding company purchased some of Novell's patents, and later Novell confirmed that they were not sold to Microsoft. With Ubuntu it was said that founder mark Shuttlewort had stated that they were moving from a six-month release cycle to daily update, however, the Director of Ubuntu Engineering issued a retraction that the words of Shuttleworth had been reworded and that Ubuntu would remain a stable six-month release cycle and not be changing to a rolling release. He alo stated that what Shutterworth was actually doing was giving the definition of rolling release.
